University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City launched UEH Simulation Center for practice and research activities

On the morning of 8th January, 2020, The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City officially launched the UEH Simulation Center at Campus B (279 Nguyen Tri Phuong street, ward 5, district 10, HCMC). This Simulation Center proudly received sponsorship from Erasmus+ project JEUL of the European Commission.

The launch event welcomed Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai – Vice President along with leaders, officials of departments and schools of UEH, and students of School of Banking.

The Center will offer and develop innovative teaching models, bridge the gap between theoretical and practical aspects, enable students to better adapt to technology-centred environment within the fields of banking, finance, stock markets..The Simulation Center is expected to tentatively meet the demand of professional practice for thousands of students, post graduate and the demand of research for lecturers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai – Vice President of UEH affirmed that: The Simulation Center will help boost the area of advanced training methods; develop problem-solving skills, teamwork skill, practice critical thinking and decision-making skill for students. Initially, students from the School of Banking will have the experience first-hand this Simulation Center. The system will continue to be developed to serve the students of the other schools in UEH.

The Simulation Center includes server operating systems and other client machines in connection with the intranet and the global Internet system. Various simulation software such as Core – Banking, stock trading, derivatives trading, foreign exchange trading, money market trading, trading on financial and commodity markets are all provided in the simulation center’s system.

In exposure to intuitive and vivid experiences, students could acquire knowledge and practice applied trading skills on the stock market, foreign exchange market, derivatives market, currency market, virtual banking model through Core – Banking flatform.

Students will experience working opportunities as well as rotation through many career positions on the labor market of Bank – Finance – Securities fields such as forex trading specialists, brokers, investors and traders. Therefore, students have remarkable ability to guide their career in association with their own respective strengths and aspirations, easily adapting to in a competitive job market after graduation.

Beside the practical values received by students, UEH Simulation Center also provides supports for lecturers currently teaching and conducting researches within the center.

Moreover, the UEH Simulation Center’s design could be utilized to organize highly practical academic exams at UEH or professional tests for banking employees, securities companies, investment funds and some other financial institutions.

With a long-term strategy to become a research-oriented university at an international scale, UEH has always focused and exerted extra attention on providing professional practical skills over the training of young generation with the highest quality, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of the domestic and global labor markets in the context of industrial revolution 4.0
